The Port of Valencia is considering to use sensor technology for an early warning system for emergencies. The early warning system would be connected to the emergency management agency in the harbor to allow it to respond to emergencies quickly. It would also be connected to workers in the harbor, to collect data, and to other stakeholders. But who are these stakeholders? What is the benefit for them of such a system? What are the costs? Is there a business model for all stakeholders that would convince them to use this system?

Jointly with all stakeholders we redesigned the business model of emergency warning and management. This showed what the benefits of this new technology for each of them are. We ran simulations to assess the revenue and expenses of the technology for each stakeholder. The model showed to each stakeholder that sensor technology would contribute to the business goals of all stakeholders.
